The Road to E3: Game Companies and Lies.

This year hopes to bring a lot of new and innovative games into our hands. E3 has always hosted the best games, and all the major companies have always showcased their major games here. The atmosphere and crowd and the games itself have always been held high by consumers and journalists. However the games themselves, there seems to be a pattern arising through the reveal of major AAA titles. It follows the simple premise of games being revealed without being being finished, completed or just a plain lie. The games showcased are very scripted, which is fine. It’s a great way to show the audience a glimpse into new features and aspects of the game. But scripted game reveals can often leave a misleading depiction of the game itself such as on how the game plays out. For instance, a game called Battlefield 4 was revealed in 2014 and it was shown to have action 24/7 in multi-player. And while you can get that action and immersion in game, it doesn’t happen all the time. Promoting the game to be something its not is a big no-no and many people agree.

“Show us the game for what it is, and then tell us any thing extra you are willing to add in the future. Don’t lie about things that aren’t in the game.”  – Adam.

“Remain humble, don’t promote to the audience that this game is the future and its amazing and will change up the industry. While it might, let us be the judge of that and not the company itself. There’s pride in your work and then there’s arrogance.” – Tyson.

E3 still remains the best place to showcase new games, however due to the slow decline of games attention to detail and polish, companies feel the need to lie their way into consumers minds to make a sale. Games are made to have fun and not to turn a profit.
